Carnes Family | Photos at Cibolo Nature Center {Texas}

This family have been my wonderful friends and models almost from the first day I picked up my camera and started creating portraits of actual humans! Haha! They genuinely are some of the very sweetest people I know.

I met Nathan and Alicia through Alicia’s baby sister Caroline whom I had grown close through because of a girls mentoring group we worked on together working through the book Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry by Lisa Bevere. Caroline told me over and over how much I would love meeting and getting to know her sister Alicia, and she was so right. When I met Nathan and Alicia, they had just had their first son, Malacai and he wasn’t even a year old yet. He was one of my FIRST Cake Smash Sessions! And their son Josiah was probably my 2nd or 3rd ever Birth Story. These two have been with me through thick and thin and I can’t even express how grateful I am to have their trust and love when it comes to capturing their family’s special moments.

This session was so much fun because they have now entered a season of life where they are done having babies and all their babies are big kids! I love chasing tiny humans around to catch those unexpected but oh-so-cute and authentic moments and expressions, but having little people who could accept direction and work with the camera was a lovely change of pace for me! Haha! We got some gorgeous sunset portraits and even some connection shots between Nathan and Alicia, which they haven’t really had together since they got married 8 or so years ago! I loved capturing these memories and I hope you get as much joy looking through them as I did creating them.
